37-37.5°C: Is it Considered a Fever?

A body temperature of 37°C to 37.5°C is often regarded as a mild fever. In adults, the normal body temperature range typically falls between 36°C and 37°C. However, a temperature equal to or greater than 37.3°C is classified as a fever. Temperatures between 37.3°C and 38°C are considered low-grade fevers, while temperatures ranging from 37°C to 37.5°C are categorized as mild fevers. Low-grade fevers are usually caused by infections from pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, mycoplasma, or chlamydia. They can also be attributed to conditions like hyperthyroidism, systemic lupus erythematosus, or malignancies.

When experiencing a mild fever, it is generally recommended to initially employ physical methods to reduce temperature, such as using cooling patches or applying warm water to the forehead, neck, or groin area. If the mild fever persists for an extended period without improvement, it is advisable to seek medical attention and undergo a complete blood count test to determine the specific cause of the fever. In the case of viral infections, it is recommended to follow medical advice and take antiviral medications such as oseltamivir phosphate granules or ribavirin tablets for treatment.
